আসাম বা অসম
উত্তর-পূর্ব সীমান্তে অবস্থিত একটি রাজ্য। আসামের অধিবাসী বা আসামের ভাষাকে অসমিয়া নামে আখ্যায়িত করা হয়। তবে আসামের এক-তৃতীয়াংশ অধিবাসী বাঙালি।
ব্রিটিশ শাসনকালে বিশেষ করে ১৮৫০ থেকে ১৮৬০ সালের মধ্যে ব্রিটিশরা ভারতের বিভিন্ন রাজ্য থেকে অনেক শ্রমিক এনেছিলেন চা বাগানে জন্য।

মহানব্রহ্মপুত্র নদ তিব্বতের মান-সরোবর হ্রদ থেকে উৎপত্তি লাভ করে, আসামের বৃক্ষাচ্ছাদিত পাহাড় ও ঘূর্ণায়মান সমভূমির আঁকাবাঁকা পথ ধরে প্রবাহিত হয়েছে। আসাম পর্যটনের প্রধান আকর্ষণ গুলি হল – প্রাচীন পৌরাণিক গাথা, প্রলোভিত সঙ্গীত এবং নৃত্য, বিশ্ব বিখ্যাত চা, বৈচিত্র্যময় রঙিন উপজাতি এবং শেষ কিন্তু গুরুত্বপূর্ণ – এক বিরল প্রজাতি একশৃঙ্গ গণ্ডার।

আসামের বৃহত্তম শহর গুয়াহাটির লোকপ্রিয় গোপীনাথ বরদোলোইর আন্তর্জাতিক বিমানবন্দর। এই বিমানবন্দর দৈনন্দিন উড়ান দ্বারা ভারতের প্রধান শহরগুলির সাথে সংযুক্ত। আসামের অন্যান্য বিমানবন্দরগুলি জোড়হাট, ডিব্রুগড়, তেজপুর এবং শিলচরে অবস্থিত। এই বিমানবন্দরগুলিতেও নিয়মিতভাবেআসা-যাওয়ার উড়ান চলাচল করে।
